Mr. Fitzpatrick has been teaching first grade at St. Theresa’s since 2006. He holds a BS in Elementary Education from Suffolk University and a Masters in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University. He is also a published author of the children’s book, Saving Peg Leg. Mr. Fitzpatrick was honored in the 2020-2021 school year by the Archdiocese for his teaching and pedagogy. As one parent said on our satisfaction survey: "Mr Fitzpatrick was one of best teachers we have encountered with our four children (two are now in their 20s)"
His favorite book is his own, Saving Peg Leg, which was illustrated by Mary MacDonald.
Mr. Fitzpatrick’s fondest memory of his first grade teacher, Ms. Regan, is how she taught counting coins. She would set up a store with empty items of food containers that were brought in by the students. Every week someone was the cashier on an old cash register and another student would be the customer. This skill of learning how to count change has been with him for a lifetime. Now, he is blessed to teach not only counting but all the other great skills a first grader learns.
A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning. – Brad Henry
